PROLIFERATION (2016)
woven cotton interspersed with wool roving

Through weaving wool roving into the fabric, dynamic and spontaneous-looking growths are created, attempting to mimic natural forms that occur in the decaying structures. The fabric is worked from one end to the other, hence mimicking a tapestry in its creation. The work hopes to create a haptic immediacy that is distinct from an optical appreciation of texture, by encouraging viewer interaction with the surface.
